Captivating Sunrises and Sunsets: The Perks of Peninsula Living By Photographer and Contributor Dianne Gowder

 I believe we sometimes take for granted the fact that at certain times of the year we can see the sun rise and set over the ocean, not everyone is so lucky.

Shari Tipich is a full-service decorative artist with a 35-year history of doing custom wall art. She paints murals, decorative artistry and scenic landscapes, mainly in clients’ homes on walls, ceilings, floor and furniture.

Lynn Doran is a jack-of-all-trades artist. She works in various mediums, including photography, sewing, printmaking and ceramic sculpture.

As a kid growing up in Palos Verdes I would often look north along the coast and wonder what was in the octagonal-shaped pavilion at the end of the Manhattan Beach pier.

I approached Flat Rock through the cold soothing water with several curious and cute Harbor Seals following from below and behind. At a distance, I had their attention as I called out and talked to them happily as an animal lover would to a favorite dog or cat. As their curiosity over powered their fear and natural cautiousness, the bravest began to approach.

Shelley Komarov is a self-made fashion designer and entrepreneur who founded her own women’s clothing company, Komarov Enterprises and built it into an international brand.

Since it started in 1975, The Circle — a local women’s support group — has worked behind the scenes of the Palos Verdes Peninsula community to promote the arts.

Judith Haron is an artist based in Laguna Beach, but she isn’t a conventional painter. She works with a unique medium called egg tempera to craft illuminated manuscripts reminiscent of Medieval Times artworks.
