SPECIAL EVENTS     

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Storytime Tails – Butterflies – Sunday, September 8th, 10:30am – 11:30am - Join us at White Point Nature Education Center for fun stories about the cool critters that live on the nature preserve with crafts and hands-on activities. Recommended for kids ages 3-6 and their caregivers.    

Monthly Guided Nature Walk at Pelican Cove Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, September 14th, 9am.  Admire the picturesque ocean views and restored buckwheat-covered seaside bluff tops that support the recovery of the rare El Segundo blue butterfly.  Moderate. Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Nature Club for Kids – Butterflies – Saturday, September 14th, 10:30am – 11:30am - Join us at White Point Nature Education Center from 10:30-11:30am for a butterfly themed Nature Club! We'll learn about the butterflies that live on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, make fun crafts, and go on a butterfly hike through the garden. This event is free and suitable for ages 5-10. 

Native Plant Sale by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land ConservancySaturday, September 14th at George F Canyon 10:30am – 12pm, located at 27305 Palos Verdes Dr E, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274.   Create your own butterfly garden with a beautiful native plant from the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Our native plant expert will give you professional tips on creating a garden waystation and home for local species!  Join us Saturday, September 28th at White Point Nature Education Center located at 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro 10:30am – 12pm for another chance to get native plants.     

Volunteer Field Trip Guide Training at White Point Nature Education Center and Preserve, Wednesday, September 18th, 9am-12pm.  Join this training to learn how to join our Docent team and help us lead field trips for 3rd Grade Students at the White Point Nature Preserve. National Public Lands Day with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, September 28th. - Join volunteers across the country on September 28th in honoring National Public Lands Day and celebrating 30 years of care and community for our public lands. Help us to care for the White Point Nature Preserve Native Plant Demonstration Garden! Weeding, and watering activities, guided native garden walk, children's activities and more! Your efforts will help restore this habitat for wildlife as well as create a beautiful place for the community to enjoy! 

GUIDED MONTHLY WALKS   

Family Nature Walk at George F Canyon Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, September 7th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail through the preserve to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. Meet on the back patio of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. Guided Family Nature Walk at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, September 21st, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean.  Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Preserve parking available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro. OUTDOOR RESTORATION ACTIVITIES     

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, September 7th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com    

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Sunday, September 8th, 9am – 12pm and Sunday, September 22nd, 9am - 12pm.  Join us at White Point Nature Preserve! We will be working to maintain the preserve's restoration area of native plant species to improve critical habitat for wildlife at the preserve and beautify outdoor natural space for the community.  Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com     

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Agua Amarga Reservewith the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, September 14th, 9am – 12pm. Help remove invasive weeds and care for a community restoration site to benefit wildlife. Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com.     

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES    

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Community Outreach Volunteers 

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is looking for volunteers who enjoy sharing their love of nature and the Peninsula at community events around the South Bay. Join the Community Outreach volunteer team to help engage local the community for events and greet participants of our free monthly guided nature walks. No experience needed & flexible schedule.  For more information, contact Lynn Rotunno, at lrotunno@pvplc.org. Open to ages 18+    

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Education Docents 

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is seeking volunteer education docents who would enjoy working with students, either in the classroom or for field trips and to greet visitors at one of two nature centers the Conservancy manages. For more information, contact Holly Gray, at hgray@pvplc.org. Open to ages 18+.  All training and materials provided.    

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Environmental Restoration Team Leaders 

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy provides a leadership development opportunity to learn to lead small teams at Outdoor Volunteer Days.
