At the Movies In London Again For the First Time at 67th BFI London Film Festival By Writer and Contributor Stephanie Mardesich

Since c. 2000 I’ve been a press delegate for the BFI London Film Festival (LFF) at least a dozen times, on “hiatus” since 2019 because of the global travel issues. I was glad to return in October (4th – 14th)  for the  67th annual event;  and great to be back in London, England “again for the first time” to enjoy the culture and terrain my favorite city I’ve traveled to countless times,  and lived in, see longtime friends and make new acquaintances.

The L.A. Atelier Where George Hurrell Invented the Glamour Portrait to be Honored

Published this month, George Hurrell's Hollywood is a revised, updated edition—with 120 new images--of the 2013 Running Press book. The first edition was honored in 2022 by Esquire Magazine as Number Eleven of the “125 Best Film Books.” On October 28, it will be honored as one of “The 100 Greatest Film Books” by The Hollywood Reporter, with a star-studded ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre.

Although I don't live on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, I have always called it "my backyard". I've been taking frequent drives around "my backyard" since I moved to the South Bay in 1975. I know the coastline of the Peninsula very well. I've never surfed, but I've hiked much of the perimeter down by the water, checking tide tables to make sure I don't get caught without an exit back up the cliffs. The coves and points which make up this perimeter have been a steady subject of my photography for many years.
