Intentional Daydreams By International Hypnosis Federation President, Author, Artist and More Shelley Stockwell-Nicholas, PhD
What is a dream?
Fleeting fragments of your creative imagination?
Sacred messages from higher consciousness?
Whispers from deceased loved ones?
A key to wakeful insight and bliss?
Out-of-body and out-of-this place-worldliness?
As a self-proclaimed “dream expert” I teach students easy-peasy ways to step into a dreamscape with nets of wonder to capture this elusive butterfly called a “dream.” When you do this, you decide for yourself messages, meanings, and excitement.
When I teach at elementary schools, I have children close their eyes and imagine being their favorite super hero who keeps them at the top of their game, brings them great grades and reminds them to have healthy fun. Hundreds of letters show me that a simple dream scape awareness brings amazing, positive results.
As an ancient sleep temple tool, dreams invited people to “incubate\” and enhance a dream with ritual, and storytelling for guidance, clarity, personal growth, and a cure for ails. Like modern prayer, it is easy to invoke insight from revered deities from pixies, godly images or archetypes like Isis, Osiris, Apollo, Athena, your inner Einstein, Rembrandt, a president, or adventuring hero. Even a faded dream brings you energy when you explore messages and generate a deeper more loving relationship with yourself.
LET’S DO IT NOW!
This simple hypnagogic meditation is guaranteed to enhance self-awareness in every way. And it is easy!
1. Think of something you would like to explore (a person, a superhero, a decision, or be open ended)
2. Close your eyes and say to yourself; “The next thing I think is a dream.” …
3. Take your time and notice what you notice.
4. Return to room awareness and write what you noticed.
5. ASK YOURSELF: “How does what I notice apply to my life?
