  1. Among Friends: A Night of Poetry

This community event invites you to celebrate National Poetry Month at the Malaga Cove Library. Enjoy the words of featured poets, including John Beroud, Judith Dancoff, Alexis Krasilovsky, Linda Singer and Vanessa Hedwig Smith.

“Whether you’re a longtime enthusiast or exploring poetry for the first time, this reading promises to be an inspiring night of shared stories, compelling imagery and heartfelt reflection,” the website reads.

This sale is best for gardeners and collectors. The event will feature plants for sale, unique plants, artistic pottery and show plants for people to enjoy.

  • Local Autism Warriors Gala

This psychedelic-themed gala is making a return for the second year. The event will feature live music by the Legion of Minglewood, and there will be food, drinks, dancing and a raffle. Proceeds will go towards Surfer’s Healing, an organization that hosts free surf camps for kids with autism.

  • Spotlight on Singer-Songwriters

This concert, hosted by Brenda Carsey and put together by Grand Vision and Wonder & Awe Productions, will feature a lineup of singer-songwriters for guests to enjoy. There will also be a pre-concert wine tasting.

  • DREAMS: A Brainstorm Production Fundraiser with the South Bay Film Society

The South Bay Film Society invites you to join Brainstorm Production’s First Annual Celebration of Film and Art. The film “DREAMS” — an anthology written and directed by neurodiverse animators — will be shown at the event. Refreshments will be served starting at 5:30 p.m.

Brainstorm Productions is a training program in Torrance that prepares neurodiverse adult clients with professional skills and workplace readiness in the animation and visual arts field.

  • Sea Shanty Sing

San Pedro is bringing back the nautical tradition of singing sea shanties with this session at COLLAGE. Go back to the roots of the songs sung aboard ships of old and join in on the fun.

  • Whale of a Day

The Annual Whale of a Day is back for another year, courtesy of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and Los Serenos de Point Vicente. Join the event to celebrate the migration of the Pacific Gray whale from Arctic seas to Baja California. Expect whale watching, educational exhibits, Point Vicente Lighthouse grounds tours, coastal-inspired vendors, live entertainment, puppet shows, food trucks, kids crafts and games, face painting, a raffle and a silent auction.

  • Pacific Art Group’s “Inspiring Awe” Exhibit

Pacific Art Group has a new show heading to the Malaga Cove Library. You can see “Inspiring Awe” throughout the month (April 2-May 19), or join the reception on April 12 for live music and refreshments.

  • Living Art Experience

Enjoy a series of living works of art based on famous masterpieces. The show displays pieces of art scaled for live models to step into them and replicate original paintings and sculptures. The experience is inspired by the life of Christ and is scheduled for viewings on Palm Sunday weekend.

  • Wild & Scenic Film Festival

In honor of Earth Day, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is hosting this film, which will feature outdoor and nature films.

  • San Pedro Comedy Company Presents “The Bridge”

If you are looking for a place to laugh, the San Pedro Comedy Company has a show for you. “The Bridge” will feature eight comedians, with the goal to “bridge” the gap between the comedians on stage and the audience below.
