Palos Verdes Peninsula’s Peacocks and Their Plumage

If you are partial to peacocks as I am, you’ll always get a thrill when you come across one with his tail feathers fully fanned!

Such a glorious sight!!

I have about two thousand photos of peacocks, so it’s pretty hard to decide which ones to share.

If you are ever looking to purchase a peacock photo, I can certainly provide some.

I always know when spring is in the air as the peacocks start to get noisy and if I happen to wake up at 4 or 5 am I can hear them from my home. Usually late January and early February!

The feathers are so stunning, one of my favorite shots is a peacock on the fence with his glorious tail feathers on display,

I do wonder how they manage to fly, but they do. In a rather ungainly fashion! When I am on my daily walks sometimes one will fly over my head.

Suddenly the males are everywhere around my neighborhood on the Peninsula, and am often surrounded by a group of females, who may or may not be very impressed with this wonderful display.

There are three in my neighborhood that I have given names, how can I tell the difference you ask? Good question, peacocks are very territorial so they will stick around the same house very often, and chase away any interlopers!

Dianne loves to walk and she tries to do at least 3 miles every day before she heads out to work. Her love of  photography evolved from her walks.

“ I have always been amazed by scenery here and more and more I found myself stopping to capture the beauty of my surroundings. As I shared my work I realized that very few people were even aware of what they have on their doorstep!”

Dianne has made it her mission to share the beauty through her photographs and she takes her friends on walks as often as possible.
