April 1, 2025 Manhattan Beach, CA — Women’s voices will take center stage this spring as Soroptimist International Manhattan Beach (SIMB) hosts its annual Women’s Film Festival on Sunday, April 27, 2025. The event will feature a powerful selection of short films curated in partnership with Women’s Voices Now, a nonprofit committed to amplifying women’s stories through film and media.
This year, the festival is honored to feature Emmy-nominated director Rebekah Grace de Guzman, whose film “The Beauty in Being Different” was nominated in the Children and Family category at the 2025 Emmy Awards. Her heartfelt and visually engaging short film will be among those showcased at the event.
More than just a film screening, the festival is part of a broader mission to create real change through education and mentorship. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit SIMB’s local and global initiatives aimed at empowering women.
“This festival is a beautiful extension of our mission,” said Mary Jurek, Film Festival Chairperson. “It’s a space to share women’s stories and raise awareness around the issues we care deeply about, while also generating support for the programs that change lives.”
Founded in 1953, Soroptimist International Manhattan Beach is part of Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization focused on improving the lives of women and girls. The organization’s mission is deeply rooted in education as a pathway to economic empowerment.
