Walking About the Horse Trails on the Peninsula By Photographer and Storyteller Dianne Gowder
I always feel like I am out in the country when I walk on the horse trails in Rolling Hills, I absolutely love it there. I am going to take you on a walk with me, but… I am not going to identify the streets because I usually start in a residential area and I am pretty sure that the people living there would like to maintain their privacy.
So, a semi secret but scenic walk.
I love horses, so it is a great pleasure to see all these magnificent creatures, they seem to want to visit with me too!. On occasion I have the opportunity to chat with their owners also. I couldn’t resist that close up! I think he wanted a treat!
Everything is such a brilliant green in the springtime. I can only marvel at nature as I walk along the trails. I grew up in England and sometimes I miss all the green, but I get my “green fix” right here.
Horses are not the only creatures I encounter on this walk, there are lot of peacocks living alongside horses and chicken! I have seen a goat or two as well!
Perhaps animals are not your thing.. if not there is still a great deal of beauty and serenity to enjoy. It seems to be miles away from civilization but on a clear day I can see downtown LA from there.
Some of the trails are quite rough, some are steep and most of them are a bit dusty, as to be expected with horse trails. So it’s a good workout. I usually do about 4 miles and I can feel it afterwards!
I hope you have enjoyed our trip to the country on our own beautiful Peninsula! How very fortunate we are. I never take all this beauty for granted and I hope by sharing it with you here I may inspire one or two people to go and enjoy it too, if you are not already.

Dianne loves to walk and she tries to do at least 3 miles every day before she heads out to work. Her love of photography evolved from her walks.
“ I have always been amazed by scenery here and more and more I found myself stopping to capture the beauty of my surroundings. As I shared my work I realized that very few people were even aware of what they have on their doorstep!”
Dianne has made it her mission to share the beauty through her photographs and she takes her friends on walks as often as possible.
