Vintage Munster Memories at Marineland with Butch Patrick AKA Eddie Munster

What would this haunting Halloween season be without our favorite monsters, Munsters and ghouls?

Palos Verdes Pulse recently sat down in the dungeon on a full moon at Butch’s office at 1313 Mockingbird Lane to share some distilled spirits with Butch Patrick, former child star of The Munsters, the kid we loved as Eddie Munster in the 1960s family sitcom we will never forget.  Just an image of Eddie Munster brings back joyous childhood memories and puts a smile on our faces. As I arrived to meet with him he was just dusting the place with some fresh cobwebs.

Now a grown man Butch is still a kid, an icon and an integral, beloved part of the childhood for millions of us though he’s no longer half werewolf.  Or is he?

When asked if he remembers filming “Marineland Carnival”, the 1965 episode of The Munsters filmed at Marineland of the Pacific Butch remembers it fondly.

In that episode the family comes to Marineland in search of a pet for Eddie.  They want something appropriate like a shark, an octopus or a barracuda.  In fact he remembers many other visits to Marineland and the Palos Verdes area as a youth.

Having grown up in Los Angeles, living in Gardena as a child, Butch spent a lot of time in his muscle cars cruising around the Peninsula and working with friends on their cars at the Texaco gas station that once was located right outside the entrance to Marineland on Palos Verdes Drive South.  They are fond memories for him.

Come back and join us for our more in-depth interview with Butch that we didn’t have room to include here.  It was a ghoul one so….STAY TUNED!!
