Spooky Season is here again! By Adventurer, Photographer and Contributor Dianne Gowder
As usual peninsula residents have out done themselves with some wonderful and creative decorations! When I grew up in England we did not celebrate Halloween, although it is thought to have originated from an old Celtic custom, but it was not something we celebrated back then, we had Guy Fawkes Day on November 5th. Things have changed now and Halloween is celebrated there much as it is here. I am making up for lost time and truly appreciating the decorations on my daily walks.
I notice some have a pumpkin based theme. I never knew you could do so much with a pumpkin!
I think my favorites might be the skeletons, they seem to stir the creative juices in a lot of home owners. Here are some that brought a smile to my face.
Witches are always popular.
Some decorations are ghostly and some are downright creepy. The charming chap at the bottom can be found at the Grand Emporium on 6th street in San Pedro, he makes noise too!
There many more fantastic decorations around the peninsula, so I encourage everyone to take a drive or a walk round the neighborhood and see what your wonderfully creative, and sometimes ghoulish, neighbors have created. It’s a lot of fun! I think you will recognize this fountain by Malaga Cove library.
Happy Halloween to all

Dianne loves to walk and she tries to do at least 3 miles every day before she heads out to work. Her love of photography evolved from her walks.
“ I have always been amazed by scenery here and more and more I found myself stopping to capture the beauty of my surroundings. As I shared my work I realized that very few people were even aware of what they have on their doorstep!”
Dianne has made it her mission to share the beauty through her photographs and she takes her friends on walks as often as possible.
