Mindful Wins By Shelley Stockwell-Nicholas, PhD - International Hypnosis Federation President, Author, Artist and More
Imagine yourself happily in the flow and on purpose, in your life, in your relationships and in your sport or hobby.
Mindfulness gets you out of your own way so you enter a well-orchestrated flow state.
Great Athletes use neurology and hypnosis or self-hypnosis to install necessary reflex reactions that keep them mindfully in “the zone.” Some basketball players make millions of dollars a year if they can make five out of ten free throws. And along comes a sixty-year-old man, who holds the Guinness Book of World Records for ten thousand consecutive basketball free throws without missing. (He stopped because of a scheduled ball game on the court.) When asked “How did you do that?” he said, “I don’t think when I sink baskets because, if I think, I miss.” His has conditioned himself to be in the flow of now…Which is mindfulness in action.
MINDFUL GOOD WINS
There’s nothing magical about the hypnotic state of mindfulness, it just works like magic. As you focus attention here and now, you program your neurology to keep you at the top of your game.
The concept of mindfulness originates from the Buddhist Sanskrit word “sati” for “awareness” and “memory.” In other words, you hold an intention of intention for retention. You quiet your jumpy monkey mind, and focus on what is most important to you. You “stop and smell the roses” and, all the while, remain in tune with your internal and external environment and your neurology responds with helpful uplifting actions and reactions.
A present and open mind is flexible. DO THIS: “Take a nice full easy breath and look around you. Notice what you notice. This is your world… A world that YOU create it and you create your perception of it! Welcome to NOW!”
As you enjoy this moment and this breath, you honor the unique and terrific energy that is specifically your own. You come to your senses and feel glad to be alive. You are more open to more wonderful– possibili-babies and wellbeing!
Studies prove that mindfulness reduces anxiety, depression, pain and reliance on toxic behaviors and drugs and, even better, mindfulness enhances immune responses.
HOW TO BE MINDFUL
As you pay attention in the present, to what’s around and within, you embrace a delightful attitude of curiosity and openness that records everything you see, hear, feel, smell, taste and intuit and, most spectacularly, you commune with your essential self that does its best night and day to keep you feeling good, alive and thriving.
Your brain awaits your attention so you do the “right thing” to achieve your dreams and goals. You’re in control of your thoughts so enjoy what you think, say and what/who you do. As you direct your awareness to the here and now you enjoy self-mastery to easily guide your thoughts and action to the results you want and need to be at the top of your game. It's a good idea to learn helpful ways to keep you in the flow… That is why so many athletes and executives call upon hypno-coaches to help them master mindful techniques.
