SPECIAL EVENTS  

Guided Nature Walk at Filiorum Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, October 8th, 9am.  Walk Jack’s Hat Trail on the 191-acre reserve linking the Three Sisters and Portuguese Bend Reserves.  This wildlife corridor boasts beautiful ocean views and native habitat.  Moderate to strenuous. Wildlife Tracking Training with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, October 15th & October 22nd, 8:30am – 11:30am. Outdoor event - 30940 Hawthorne Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes. Dedicated volunteers are needed to monitor wild foxes and coyotes in the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve. 16 years +

Nature & Me Storytime at George F Canyon Nature Center with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and Palos Verdes Library District, Friday, October 28, 2022, 10:15am – 10:45am.  – Join the Palos Verdes Library District for stories, songs, and rhymes at George F Canyon Nature Center! Recommended for ages 2-5. No reservations required. 

Nature Walk Leader Training with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Saturday, October 29th and November 5th, 9am – 12pm. Share your love of nature with your local community by learning how to become a nature walk leader! Help us host free nature walks at various trails on the Peninsula on the 2nd Saturday of each month. 18 years +

ACTIVITIES

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, October 1st, 9am – 12pm.  Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to volunteer at the newest restoration site on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping eradicate invasive weeds to protect native species. George F Canyon Guided Nature Preserve Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, October 1st, 10:30am.  You will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin.  Meet outside on the back deck of the George F Canyon Nature Center.  Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. No RSVP required.  Rain cancels.  

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, October 8th and October 29th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. Guided Nature Walk at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, October 15th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean.  Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Park in the lot at the dead-end of 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.  Reservations not required.  Preserve parking available in a gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.

Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Rapid Response Team, Fridays and Saturdays, 9am - 12pm.  Work alongside the field staff around the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve to help protect important wildlife habitat.  Help with trail maintenance, fence building, installing signage and more!  No experience needed. 15 and up.
