Just Imagine! By Shelley Stockwell-Nicholas, Ph.D. and President of the International Hypnosis Federation
As a child, were bed-sheets mountains to climb? Clouds to visit? Or marshmallows? Did you fly like Superman? Dance with Barbie and Ken? Or sip tea with the Queen? In those good old days, your imagination, and maybe an imaginary friend, was the magic carpet that took you to wondrous lands afar.
As you ripened, perhaps you imagined meeting a music idol or movie star or a gorgeous mate… driving the perfect car, going to the best college or getting the perfect job or winning the Super Bowl.
To this day, when you doodle, make-up a song, create a way to get your kids to pick up their socks, or conjure up a new recipe, you put your imagination to good use!
Moviemakers, storytellers, writers and artists do all they can to engage your imagination. If they succeed, you leave your day-to-day life and go on their journey.
In fact, everything you do begins with imaginative thought; it’s the master key to your mind and the premise of the Law of Attraction. The best and worst part about your imagination is that it comes real. If you focus on the right thing, mysterious doors lead to what you want.
Of course, imagination is a double-edged sword. Imagining danger lurking, when it’s not actually there, is stressful. And, if you believe and imagine everything you hear, see or read with no filter, it may not be in your best interest. A woman I once met imagined that ground up papaya seeds would work as birth control… oops… now she has a real life baby papaya…
Advertisers, politicians and public relations propaganda companies spend a king’s ransom (imagine how much that is!) to capture your imagination.
I imagine the following focused imagination exercise will pique your curiosity:
DO THIS!
1. Think of something you want to happen for yourself.
2. Focus on it fully and let your imagination run wild…
3. Now, imagine it as a done deal. It is already so…!
4. Finally, imagine what action steps you’ll take to make it happen. Then go about your life as your inner mind fully embraces success beyond belief.
