In August the LA Kings and American Sports Entertainment Company (ASEC) announced a new, multi-year lease agreement with Promenade on the Peninsula in which ASEC and the Kings will re-open and operate the ice skating facility in Rolling Hills Estates. Now rebranded LA Kings Ice at Promenade on the Peninsula, the former Promenade Ice Chalet has undergone an extensive remodel and opens to the general public next week.

As part of the celebration the facility will hold a special ribbon-cutting event -- featuring several Kings executives and alumni on Tuesday, September 7, beginning at 11 a.m. – at Promenade on the Peninsula Mall at 550 Deep Valley Drive in Rolling Hills Estates. Members of the media are encouraged to RSVP in advance for additional details.

Located within the popular Promenade on the Peninsula located on the northern side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, the rink closed September 16, 2020, due to the area’s widespread COVID-19 lockdown. The indoor rink, opened by the shopping center in 1981, has served as an iconic area location for both figure skating and hockey for 40 years.

After signing a lease ASEC and the Kings immediately began improvements to LA Kings Ice at Promenade on the Peninsula. Technology system upgrades and interior and exterior branding were a primary focus. In addition, repairs to the cold floor pipe system, leveling for the ice rink subfloor, repair of the dasher board system, a new scoreboard and new rental skates have occurred. Upgraded lighting and sound equipment as well as high-speed public internet access will enhance the experience for ice rink users.

Tuesday’s event will also feature several local athletes on the ice. All participating, featured guests are available for interviews and photo opportunities.
