HOLISTIC HEALTH IS WHAT YOU THINK (Excerpt from her Book “Thrive” Creativity Unlimited Press, RPV) BY SHELLEY STOCKWELL-NICHOLAS, PhD
You don’t need a PhD to know you must take care of your body… Your body is your only true home. You know if you’re doing right by yourself; if you’re nourished, have enough sleep, and think and act in helpful and healthful ways.
ASK YOURSELF…
“If I were doing the right things for myself, what would that be like?”
“What does good health mean to me?”
“Am I ready, willing and able to be my best?”
Your answers clarify the right direction for you to proceed… Feeling great is a holistic mental and physical experience. Steve Jobs (founder, Apple Computers and Pixar) said, “When I was 17, I read the words ‘If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.’ …Since then, I’ve looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?”
GARDEN OF RENEWAL…
If you feel fine, that’s excellent! However, if you’re not feeling your best, have a health challenge, or are helping someone else, this renewal step makes a blooming difference….
AFFIRM: “My mind is a garden; I reap what I sow. Happily moving, that’s how wellness grows. I choose and embrace optimum wellness. I focus upon what needs my attention… I ask my Inner Knower (that wise beyond wise self…) ‘What’s truly going on here?’ ‘What’s at issue?’”
TRACK THOUGHTS… Notice your thoughts. Are they helpful and nourishing? If they are, enjoy them. If not, readjust them now to better thoughts.
REMOVE LIMITS… To renew your garden of mind, pull out the weeds of hurtful thought, attitudes or beliefs. Blow them away to a far off land or recycle them as mulch…
REPLANT… What positive thought, belief and attitude will you plant instead? Lovingly implant
thoughts that benefit you– WOW, they bloom now as beautiful flowers …
CHILLAX and BREATHE EASY… Now sit back; relax and IN-JOY and OUT-JOY a magnificent Relaxation brings harmony, happiness, health and peace of mind... Smile on yourself. Smile all over yourself. Reap what you’ve sown
