Career Day was one of the highlights of my elementary school days. The anticipation would build on the way to school and finally culminate in heart exploding joy as the welcoming rainbow balloon arch came into view, signaling far and wide, the fun planned for the day.

It was in the summer of 2006 when Patrick Sean O’Malley was commissioned to paint his first mural at Torrance Memorial Medical Center; four scenic wooden panels to be placed around the outdoor cafeteria seating area. The panels were so well received that more panels were added to cover the entire seating area and surround it with beautiful nature scenes.

Our YWCA, here in San Pedro, California, was designed by the distinguished Architect and Engineer, Julia Morgan. Ms. Morgan, the first woman to be licensed as an Architect in California, was a trailblazer and a pioneer. Indeed, she was the first woman to be admitted to the world renowned lʹÉcole nationale supérieure des Beaux‐Arts in Paris.
