Diandering at Dawn and Dusk By Local Photographer and Adventurer Dianne Gowder

A dear friend of mine came up with the word Diandering, which perfectly describes the way I do my daily walks. I mostly Diander at dawn but at this time of year I find myself out at dusk as well.

So with that in mind here are some of my favorite photos taken recently and why I like them. Starting with one I took this morning at Cabrillo beach in San Pedro, there is something magical about being the only person on the beach as the sun comes up.

These next two I love as I am particularly fond of pelicans and watching fly in formation off to some unknown destination at the end of the day. Nature never ceases to amaze me.

These were taken at Point Vicente:

Sometimes I think the sky has the most beautiful colors after the sun goes down.
I took these at dusk by the Korean Bell in San Pedro. The two young men playing basketball were great and allowed me to photograph them shooting a few hoops. I am not usually a people photographer but the color of the sky and the silhouettes brought something new to my work.

I love when  the days begin and end in soft peachy  shades which are more soothing and I feel equally beautiful .

And those evenings the sky really wows you!

Finally the photo that is probably my favorite of all, at least from my recent photos, and it’s a photo that was completely unplanned. I was driving along PV Drive South when the sky caught my attention; I was able to pull over and get the shot. I hope you like it as much as I

Dianne loves to walk and she tries to do at least 3 miles every day before she heads out to work. Her love of  photography evolved from her walks.

“ I have always been amazed by scenery here and more and more I found myself stopping to capture the beauty of my surroundings. As I shared my work I realized that very few people were even aware of what they have on their doorstep!”

Dianne has made it her mission to share the beauty through her photographs and she takes her friends on walks as often as possible.
