If Ever I Were to Leave You It Wouldn’t Be in Winter – Finding Beauty in Winter…..By Photographer, Writer and Seeker of Beauty Simie Seaman
There is something Beautiful about winter. Winter creates a sense of mystery and otherworldly aspects to nature. Winter has a truly dreamlike allure. Winter is a wet season, with lots of fog, rain or snow. Fog has the ability to take the most ordinary and mundane image and transform them into something magical. Another magical thing about winter is its beautiful light. Winter offers an alternative perspective on the way you see things. Trees and plants usually go dormant. This minimized color palette adds to the simple beauty. Mist rises from the lakes and streams lending itself to soft ethereal feeling.
Winter makes you slow down. Slowing down is a Blessing. When you slow down you will notice things that you would have never seen. It allows you to reflect on the beauty that has unfolded right before you that where other times in your life you may have missed out on something really wonderful because you were too busy to slow down.
Winter weather leads many people to curl up inside, which leaves a quiet and serene world for those of us willing to venture out. I relished the stillness of the moment and entertained the idea that I’m the only one there and this venture had somehow been orchestrated just for me.
Winter may be cold and intimidating, but its mesmerizing beauty makes it worth the challenge to capture its magic with your camera. You just never know where that inspiration will be.
Hopefully I’m about to bring to light something you commonly overlook which will become something beautiful you’ll notice from now on.
