Marilyn Monroe Remembered By Greg Schreiner
August is always a very special month for me as President of the Marilyn Remembered Fan Club. On August 5th, 1962, Marilyn was found dead in her home in Brentwood in an apparent drug overdose. Each year since 1982, we have celebrated her life with a memorial service at Westwood Village Park Cemetery in Westwood.
We plan to do the same this August as well. The service is held in the chapel on the ground of the cemetery where her actual funeral was held. We invite speakers who knew Marilyn personally or who have a direct connection to Marilyn in some way.
Guest speakers have included photographer, George Barris, MGM hair stylist, Sidney Guilarof, actress Kathleen Huges, Actor George Chakiris, Actress Renee Taylor, Actress Terry Moore, playwright Luke Yankee, the son of Eileen Heckert and Marilyn's stand in and double, Evelyn Moriarty.
Each year fans donate flowers and they adorn the chapel as well as the grave site crypt. We invite any fans of Marilyn to join us at the chapel on August 5th at 11am.
I own a huge collection of over 500 movie costumes worn by the great stars of the golden age Hollywood . I also utilize my costumes in a show, Hollywood Revisited (www.hollywoodrevisited.com).
