5 Travel Books That Will Give You Serious Wanderlust from Peninsula Friends of the Library
While traveling, I have always enjoyed having a book or better yet a book on tape that is taking place in the country I am traveling through; A Year In Provence by Peter Mayle while driving through France made the entire car laugh out loud and understand the French people a little bit better. Four Seasons In Rome by Anthony Doerr was a true gift while we were in Rome for a long weekend sightseeing and eating. And last May I traveled with my friend Kaaren Lee to see the wonderment of the Synchronized Fireflies in the Great Smoky Mountains so I grabbed Strangers in High Places: The Story of the Great Smoky Mountains that tells the story of the Great Smoky Mountains and their inhabitants--Eastern Cherokee, back-country settlers, lumbermen, moonshiners, bears and boars--and Kaaren and I did see bears! Books help me escape into a new world, whether I am at home or traveling.
The Friends have great books on tape and used books at our library branches for you to pick up and read or listen to, and then you can leave them behind for someone that might enjoy them as they travel! Also, do not forget with a FREE PVLD library card you can download free audio books and movies.
