Palos Verdes Peninsula Super Bloom By Photographer and Adventurer Dianne Gowder

Look at these beautiful daisies in Friendship Park

I know many of us, myself included, have been driving great distances to see the wonderful wildflower super bloom this year, but really.. there is no need to go all over Southern California when our own peninsula is in full bloom too.

Everywhere I look there are acres of yellow on the hillsides. I know that the mustard is a very invasive plant it takes over and prevents other native plants from growing but I can’t help but love those vibrant yellow blooms, especially when they tower above my head!

My friends at the Palos Verdes Land Conservancy might not agree with me here, their mission is to preserve our wild lands with native species, which I fully support.

White Point Nature Preserve in San Pedro has some lovely wildflowers in the garden and you can find poppies in bloom just now too

The yellow and orange blooms are nice and cheerful but I am partial to some of the delicate purple flowers too.

I have shared photos here from San Pedro but don’t forget the beauty of the flowers in Palos Verdes too, Lower Hesse park has a stunning array of lupin, the same goes for the area behind Luanda Bay little league, and trails above and around Malaga Cove are all filled with flowers.
I hope you have the opportunity to get out and enjoy all this beauty.. unless, of course, you have allergies…

Dianne loves to walk and she tries to do at least 3 miles every day before she heads out to work. Her love of  photography evolved from her walks.

“ I have always been amazed by scenery here and more and more I found myself stopping to capture the beauty of my surroundings. As I shared my work I realized that very few people were even aware of what they have on their doorstep!”

Dianne has made it her mission to share the beauty through her photographs and she takes her friends on walks as often as possible.
